‘At just before 1:30 this afternoon, I stepped out my front door with my bike Tyson and 3 bags. Started pedaling down North Point St and just like that I left behind one lifestyle for a completely different one for the next 3 months. Do I have what I need to survive 3 major mountain ranges, 5 different climates, 80+ nights of wilderness camping, and 4000+ miles of cycling…’
That's how Jeff Ragusa started his blog on June 22nd, 2015 to chronicle his epic solo ride from San Francisco CA to Stamford CT.....4,000 miles across the USA, coast to coast! On September 10th, 2015 Jeff achieved his goal and arrived in Stamford, CT reflecting back on "that epic third day climbing 8k ft up into the Sierras in 102 degree heat with 80 days of pavement ahead, to the long stretches of isolation in the Nevada desert, to the monster summit climb in the Rockies, to the 400 miles of headwind and endless humidity of the plains, to the dog attacks, to facing rough gravel and dusty hilly backroads in every direction in the midwest, to the agony of not being able to get across the room after hurting my back.",
Jeff kindly agreed to partner with us and raise money for the Thame Fund off the back of his adventure and we are grateful to him and the many many like minded donors who care as passionately as we do about the need to assist the Sherpa communities as they rebuild their homes, schools and livelihoods.
