The students for whom we provide educational funding currently attend schools in either Kathmandu or Namche Bazaar. Notably, the majority of college or university students reside in Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Valley Higher Secondary School, Kathmandu

Kathmandu Valley Higher Secondary School is a co-educational institution. It has been providing high-quality education to its students for over two and a half decades. Established with the vision of creating an exciting and intellectually stimulating learning environment, the school has consistently strived to offer opportunities that encourage, challenge, and nurture students, fostering their full potential.

Students residing on the school’s campus in a dormitory setting have the privilege of studying a diverse range of subjects, including language, literature, mathematics, science, social studies, accounting, and economics.

Namche Shree Himalaya Primary School

Nestled in the heart of Namche Bazaar, Namche Shree Himalaya Primary School is a public school that’s all about the community. Their mission is to give their students the best education possible, right in their own village. They’ve always been able to attract amazing teachers and resources, which has helped them improve their school a lot over the years.

In 2017, with the help of the whole community, the Alpine Ascents Foundation, along with its founder and president Todd Burleson and his wife Dané, built a nursery school section for the school. Check out our page School Build for more details on this incredible project that combined the village’s resources with AAF resources to expand the school and its educational opportunities. Now, students can go from Nursery to Grade 8!

The students live in a dormitory at the Home Away from Home hostel. At school, they learn a variety of subjects, including English, Math, Nepali, Creative Arts, Science, and Social Studies. The hostel is also important for teaching the children the rich Sherpa language and culture.

Young Hearts Boarding High School

The Young Heart Boarding High School opened in 1991 and aims develop every child physically, mentally and spiritually through modern methods by selection of qualified and experienced teachers who come from well-established English intermediate schools and by providing a multitude of extra-curricular activities.
